Modern furniture is mainly comprised of pieces created in the light of current designs
which have not been time-tested. Therefore, even if they are manufactured with the
highest quality, the periods of use of these products can be limited, and as they
cannot always be complemented and enriched with new pieces, their periods of validity
can be rather short. In other words, modern style furniture can be described as
furniture which keeps up to date for shorter periods and the fashion of which can
change frequently.
On the other hand, if their quality is not compromised during the stages of design
and production, classic furniture pieces reflect permanence, as they have been created
through redesign using motifs that have won appreciation and admiration transcending
long periods of time (unique classic) or have been reproduced true to their originals
(reproduction). Such furniture can also be enriched and renewed through complementing
them with carpets, paintings, other art work, lighting and accessories representing
the same style. Classic furniture also has the quality to create richer and more
flexible atmospheres, when complemented with antique pieces.
Especially for the past decade, the greater appreciation for the “eclectic style”
around the world, as well as the evolution of this style into a constantly rising
trend, has considerably increased the demand for classic furniture. Today, especially
American, British and Italian firms which manufacture high-end furniture compatible
with the “eclectic style” respond to this demand.
For the past 20 years, the producers in the United States, which is a melting pot
where different cultures coexist and which has become a forerunner in many domains
with its strong economy and industry, have also assumed a leading role in the manufacturing
of “eclectic style” furniture. This has contributed extensively to the production
of fine furniture of this style, thanks to the use of the newest technologies, as
well as the improvement of their designs as far as their ergonomics, comfort and
suitability for daily use are concerned.
